The first day of school is day 1. From there, every day students are in class adds one: Monday to Friday, minus holidays, breaks, teacher work days and days the school was closed. Weekends never count. That is why two schools that start on the same Monday can reach day 100 a week or more apart: one takes the whole Thanksgiving week off and three weeks in winter, the other only two days and ten. Snow days that are not made up, or not held as eLearning days, push the date later.
The calculator lists the federal holidays that fall in your school year as checkboxes, each on the weekday it is observed: when a fixed holiday lands on a Saturday the day off is the Friday before, and on a Sunday the Monday after (5 U.S.C. 6103(b) for Saturday, Executive Order 11582 for Sunday). Juneteenth 2027 is a Saturday, so the observed day is Friday, June 18. Federal holidays are not a rule for schools, so untick the ones your district works.
Horry County Schools in South Carolina started on Monday, August 18, 2025 and ended on Thursday, June 4, 2026. Its official 2025–26 calendar marks these days with no school (Veterans Day was a regular school day):
Counting Monday to Friday from August 18 and skipping those days, the calculator gives Friday, January 30, 2026 as the 100th day of school, and 180 school days in the whole year.
For the 2026–27 school year, here is where day 100 lands depending on the first day, with two common ways of taking the fall and winter breaks. Short breaks: Thanksgiving Day and the Friday after (Nov 26–27, 2026) and a winter break from Thursday, Dec 24, 2026 to Friday, Jan 1, 2027. Long breaks: the whole Thanksgiving week (Nov 23–27) and two weeks in winter (Dec 21, 2026 – Jan 1, 2027). Both also take off the federal holidays ticked by default. Teacher work days, fall break and snow days move it later.
| First day | Short breaks | Long breaks |
|---|---|---|
| Monday, August 3, 2026 | Wednesday, December 23, 2026 | Monday, January 11, 2027 |
| Monday, August 10, 2026 | Friday, January 8, 2027 | Tuesday, January 19, 2027 |
| Monday, August 17, 2026 | Friday, January 15, 2027 | Tuesday, January 26, 2027 |
| Monday, August 24, 2026 | Monday, January 25, 2027 | Tuesday, February 2, 2027 |
| Monday, August 31, 2026 | Monday, February 1, 2027 | Tuesday, February 9, 2027 |
| Tuesday, September 8, 2026 | Monday, February 8, 2027 | Wednesday, February 17, 2027 |
The weekday each holiday is observed, from August 2026 to June 2027, as published by the U.S. Office of Personnel Management. The calculator computes the same dates for any year.
More for the day: certificate maker, bingo cards and the math worksheet generator for counting practice.
It is the 100th day your school is actually in session, so it depends on your district’s first day and its days off. In the 2026–27 school year that is usually in January or February: with a Thanksgiving week and a two-week winter break off, a school that starts on Monday, August 3 gets there on Monday, January 11, 2027, and one that starts on Tuesday, September 8 on Wednesday, February 17, 2027. Enter your own first day and breaks above for the exact date.
Count every day students are in school, starting with the first day as day 1. Skip Saturdays and Sundays, holidays, breaks, teacher work days and any day school was closed. The calculator does exactly that: it walks the calendar from your first day, counts Monday to Friday, leaves out the days you mark as no school, and stops at 100.
Yes. Every day school is closed pushes the 100th day one school day later, unless the closure was an eLearning day that counted as instruction. Add each closure with “+ Snow day” and the date updates; the numbered calendar and the 100-day chart move with it.
Because many districts hold school on them. Federal holidays are paid days off for federal employees, not a rule for schools: each district sets its own calendar. Horry County Schools in South Carolina, for example, held classes on Veterans Day 2025. Check every holiday against your district calendar and tick the ones with no school.
A school-year calendar with one month per page and every school day numbered (the 100th marked with a star), a 100-day chart with the real date of each school day under its number, two “100 Days Smarter!” crowns to color, a writing page (count by tens, “if I had $100…”, “when I am 100…”) and a 100 Days of School certificate. You can also download the dates as a calendar file (.ics) for Google Calendar, Outlook or Apple Calendar.
No. The dates are counted and the pages are drawn in your browser; nothing is uploaded. The dates and breaks (never the name) are remembered on this device so you can come back later, and “Copy link” puts them after the # in the address, which never reaches our server.
