What if we can't find one of the items?
Make it a wildcard: substitute the closest thing you can find and have your child argue the case ("this counts because…"). The negotiation is more fun — and more language practice — than the finding.
What does a scavenger hunt teach?
Observation, vocabulary and stick-with-it persistence: reading (or hearing) each item, holding it in mind, and scanning the world for it is genuinely demanding attention work — dressed up as a game kids beg to repeat.
Can my child do this one alone?
