This Solstice Mandala coloring page offers a captivating design, ready for a burst of color. It features a full-page symmetric mandala with five distinct rings radiating from the center. Each ring is divided into repeating sections: the innermost ring has six sections, the second has twelve, the third has twenty-four, and the outer two rings each repeat sixteen times. The bold, clean lines make it satisfying to color each individual segment, creating a vibrant pattern as you work your way through the intricate design.
To approach this mandala, we suggest choosing a limited palette of 3-5 colors and repeating them in a specific order within each ring. For example, you could pick three colors and color the first section of a ring yellow, the second orange, and the third red, then repeat that yellow-orange-red sequence all the way around. This methodical approach helps maintain a cohesive look and makes the intricate details feel less overwhelming, building a beautiful, ordered pattern.
A great way to extend the fun with this page is to print multiple copies and encourage children to experiment with different color schemes. You could provide a challenge to create a "warm-colored mandala" and a "cool-colored mandala," or even explore different seasonal palettes. This not only encourages creative thinking and color theory exploration but also provides a calming, focused activity that builds fine motor skills and pattern recognition.

Frequently asked questions
Markers, pencils or gel pens for mandalas?
Colored pencils are the most forgiving in the small sections and never bleed. Fine-tip markers give the boldest result on cardstock. Gel pens are the older-kid favorite — a metallic gel pen on a few sections makes the whole design pop.
Does my child have to finish the whole mandala?
Not at all — a half-colored mandala already looks intentional because of the symmetry. Leaving it on a clipboard to return to over a few days actually teaches something valuable: big, careful projects are allowed to take time.
Can my child do this one alone?
That's the sweet spot of this age — hand it over and let them own it. Resist hovering: figuring out a sticking point solo (or choosing to ask for help) is a bigger win than a perfectly completed page.
