Welcome to our Eclipse Mandala coloring page! This full-page design features a large, symmetric eclipse, with clean black outlines ready for your child’s creativity. Radiating from the center, you’ll find five distinct rings, each filled with repeating sections. The innermost ring has eight segments, the second and third rings each have sixteen segments, and the two outermost rings boast thirty-two segments each. There’s a satisfying rhythm to coloring these repeating patterns, whether your child chooses to match colors across segments or create a unique palette for each section.

To tackle this design, we suggest starting from the very center and working outwards. Picking a vibrant color for the eclipse’s "corona" in the innermost ring will make it pop. Then, for the rings with many repeating segments, encourage your child to pick a color for one segment, and then color every other segment in that same ring with that same color. This creates a beautiful alternating pattern and helps maintain focus through the more intricate sections of the mandala.

This mandala is perfect for building pattern recognition and fine motor skills. For a fun group activity, print a few copies and have a "color-along" where each child picks a different color palette. Once completed, these colorful mandalas make fantastic window decorations, especially when taped to a window where the light can shine through and highlight their vibrant designs. Suitable for ages 5-9.

Frequently asked questions

Are mandalas too detailed for young kids?

This one is drawn for kids ages 5–8 — the sections are bigger than an adult coloring book's, but smaller than a regular kids' page. If your child finds it fiddly, colored pencils reach small spaces better than crayons, and finishing over several sittings is completely fine.

What can we do with a finished mandala?

They frame surprisingly well — a colored mandala in a cheap square frame looks like bought wall art. They also make lovely cards: fold the page or cut the circle out and glue it to the front of a blank card for grandparents.

How do printables fit alongside schoolwork for this age?

Think of them as the fun cousin of homework: same skills — focus, pencil control, following through — zero grading pressure. They're perfect for after-school decompression, early-finisher folders and screen-free weekend mornings.

Why does the page look cut off when I print?

That's almost always a scaling setting. In the print dialog choose "Fit to page" (or 100% if your printer handles margins well) and make sure the paper size is set to US Letter. Printing from the downloaded PDF, rather than the browser preview, also gives the cleanest result.
