Owl Coloring Page — free printable coloring for kids to print and color at home

The feathers and big round eyes give this owl just enough detail to keep older kids interested without getting fussy.

We like coloring each row of feathers a different color for a rainbow owl. A nice one for a fall or woodland theme.

Frequently asked questions

The lines look thick — is that on purpose?

Yes. Bold, uniform outlines are much more forgiving for small hands: they hide little slips, make each area easy to see, and photocopy cleanly if a teacher needs a class set. It's the same style used in classic early-childhood workbooks.

Can we color it digitally on a tablet?

Sure — open the Owl Coloring Page PDF in any drawing or annotation app and color with a stylus. That said, the paper version exercises real pencil grip, so we'd keep the tablet as the travel option rather than the default.

Can my child do this one alone?

That's the sweet spot of this age — hand it over and let them own it. Resist hovering: figuring out a sticking point solo (or choosing to ask for help) is a bigger win than a perfectly completed page.

What paper should I print it on?

Plain letter paper works fine for the Owl Coloring Page. If it'll get heavy marker use or you want it to survive more than one afternoon, step up to 24 lb paper or light cardstock — crayons and colored pencils feel nicer on it too.
