Hot Cocoa Coloring Page — free printable coloring for kids to print and color at home

Add a name banner and your own title above the picture, then print — free, in your browser.

This cozy coloring page features a big mug of hot cocoa, perfect for a winter's day. The mug itself offers a large, inviting space for coloring, while the generous dollop of whipped cream on top and the three fluffy marshmallows provide more satisfying areas. Smaller details include delicate curls of steam rising from the warm drink, and the distinct outline of the cocoa itself within the mug.

For this picture, traditional browns for the cocoa and white or cream for the whipped cream and marshmallows are classic choices, but don't be afraid to experiment with pink or mint whipped cream for a playful touch! The bold, rounded shapes and large areas are ideal for crayons or chunky markers, allowing young artists to fill the spaces easily without worrying about staying in tiny lines.

After coloring, talk about favorite winter treats. Ask your child what makes hot cocoa special to them, or imagine what else could be in the mug. This page can also inspire a pretend play session where they "make" and serve their delicious, colorful hot cocoa creation.

Frequently asked questions

What should my child color it with?

Crayons and colored pencils are the safest bet on regular printer paper — markers look bold but can bleed through thin sheets. For preschoolers (around ages 3–4), chunky crayons or triangular pencils are easiest to grip.

Can we color it digitally on a tablet?

Sure — open the Hot Cocoa Coloring Page PDF in any drawing or annotation app and color with a stylus. That said, the paper version exercises real pencil grip, so we'd keep the tablet as the travel option rather than the default.

What grip should my preschooler be using?

Many preschoolers still use a whole-fist grip, and that's fine — it usually matures into a tripod grip by age 5 without drilling. Short crayon stubs (really) nudge fingers into the right position naturally.
