Family Eating Dinner Coloring Page — free printable coloring for kids to print and color at home

Add a name banner and your own title above the picture, then print — free, in your browser.

This coloring page features a happy family gathered around their dinner table. You’ll find a mom, a dad, and two children, all seated and ready to eat. The large table, the family members’ clothes, and the background wall offer big, satisfying areas perfect for little hands to fill with color. Smaller details include their smiling faces, individual plates, and the food on the table, providing just enough challenge to keep things interesting without being frustrating for younger colorists.

For this scene, consider using warm browns for the wooden table, bright reds or yellows for the children's clothes, and perhaps a soft blue for the wall to create a cozy atmosphere. Crayons are an excellent choice here, as their broad tips are ideal for covering the large, open shapes quickly and easily. Markers would also work wonderfully for vibrant, solid blocks of color, making the finished picture pop.

After your child finishes coloring, use the picture as a starting point for a chat about their own favorite family meals. Ask them what they think the family in the picture is eating, or what special foods they enjoy with their family. This can spark conversations about healthy eating, shared traditions, or even inspire them to help set the table for your next meal together.

Frequently asked questions

What should my child color it with?

Crayons and colored pencils are the safest bet on regular printer paper — markers look bold but can bleed through thin sheets. For preschoolers (around ages 3–4), chunky crayons or triangular pencils are easiest to grip.

Does it matter if my child colors outside the lines?

Not at all. The bold outlines are there as a guide, not a rule — process matters far more than neatness at this age. Coloring "wrong" colors and wandering over lines is exactly how kids build the hand control that later shows up in handwriting.

How can I stretch this activity for my preschooler?

Talk while they work: name the picture's parts, count them, ask "what color next?" and "what happens in this story?". A printable plus five minutes of chat does more for vocabulary than the page alone ever will.

Will it print okay in black and white?

Yes — the printable itself is black line art on a white background, so any printer handles it, including basic laser printers. Set your printer to grayscale or "black ink only" to save color ink; the page will look exactly the same.
