The lines look thick — is that on purpose?
Yes. Bold, uniform outlines are much more forgiving for small hands: they hide little slips, make each area easy to see, and photocopy cleanly if a teacher needs a class set. It's the same style used in classic early-childhood workbooks.
What should my child color it with?
Crayons and colored pencils are the safest bet on regular printer paper — markers look bold but can bleed through thin sheets. For kids ages 5–8, chunky crayons or triangular pencils are easiest to grip.
Is this too babyish for my 8-year-old?
Try it before assuming — kids this age still love a good puzzle or coloring session, especially with "grown-up" tools like gel pens or fine-tip markers. Adding a self-set challenge (a timer, a color pattern, beating a sibling's time) refreshes any page.
